Using PD13 gobbles up my SSD no matter what I do to prevent it. Mirror files?

Hi, I am dealing with long videos that put out a 1.8G per hour mp4s off of a Vixia, string 9 of them together and some real size.

I have 111Gig usable SSD with PD13 on it. I read in those files from flash card into project, not disk, then use in project and erase source from the flash drive after outputing from them in 300k WMV and that is to D drv not C SSD.

I ran out of space and got warnings "not even space for mirror file in PD". Yet have 800G free on D and trying not to use C at all.

Had techy remove 30 Gs week ago from SSD. Well tonite it got down to 5Gs free again and getting red warning on C drv.

Am I doing something wrong? Note I did notice that erarsing the base files does free C space, even thogh not on C, guessing some mirro thing? But bottom line is have chewed up 25 Gs somehowin a week.

Any ideas?

PD 13 likes to use the C drive and I don't know that it can be changed. You are working with a very large project, so I would guess PD is just putting a lot on the drive. Other may have suggestions to reduce what is stored there. __________________________________

When you produce your files browse to the D drive and store the finished files there Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

You can specify where you want the produced and created material to go. Check in Peference/File/Export folder is to your drive D. PowerDirector can be installed in any drive provided that you created the same folders in the D drive and browse to it during installation.

Google for ssd optimization. You can move the locations where Windows create those temp files and the paging files, etc. Less users are doing that nowadays because ssd are reliable and have greater capacity..

Thanks. I do store all output videos on D: and put all Input videos on non C: drives. But in terms of the content files probably they did go to C: That is 10 gigs. Will probably make the change.

Still just using PD13 seems to gobble up C: Not sure if content packs being moved will change that.

Cheers

Thanks, For PD13, which is one that complains about not enough space for "mirror" files, what exactly are mirror files, do you know if PD13 duplicates the files when working on them?

I was thinking of going from 120G to 240G, but if 20Gs net were gobbled in 1 week that is only 12 weeks worth. It used 29 of 30G, then after I closed the input files, it now has 10g free. 480Gs are fairly expensive.

I have never got a warning from any version of PD that complains about not enough space for mirror files. Do you know what they are and where they are located on your ssd? Did you mean shadow files which are created on drive C by default instead? They must not be important to PD13 since you said the techy removed them and apparently PD has no ill effect without them.

Check to see if you have shadow files enabled in preference. Disable them and manually delete all those files because apparently you suffer no ill effect in editing without them. Ask your techy first to be sure that it is the shadow files he deleted.

Let us know if this solves your ssd space problem.

Ah, interesting, I am recording the sound bar in PD13 right now, so it would be 7 hours before can change settings. However that may be the answer.

Thanks!

Hi Jeff right now have 9Gs free, but will screen cap the mesg next time. Its when I am adding a video to project it says, "not enough memory space for mirror file, free up space on your computer", or something like that. Sometimes ignoring the mesg works. Other times it refuses to load.

Thanks alll for your help.
