Trim function no longer working PD7

I have sent this question to PD Tech support BUT thought I would put it here too.

I have PD7 (I have been using 1928, although I did try the patches too) a part of the program doesn't work, BUT used to. I can't trim on the timeline, I can in PIP. I can multitrim in timeline (which creates a transition problem BTW). Every time I try just the trim in the timeline the program crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (cleaned registry etc) and in fact the first few times the trim would work, until I closed the program and reopened it, then it stopped working and would crash. I have updated my drivers and I have defragged. It was working up until October 19. I have done a system restore back to the 18th, just in case. That one item still doesn't work. I have even thought that perhaps my original .exe was corrupt and installed the .exe from another spot, still the same thing. I am assuming I have a software conflict, but for the life of me I have no clue what or where. All of the programs and updates, of which there were few, were reversed and as much as I could find, I wiped the registry. It seems to be the only thing that isn't working (so far) but since I use it all the time it's a pain.

I am imagining I will have to wipe my computer clean and start over, but just thought I would put this out there in case someone else has had this issue.

Hi Valerie,

Sorry to read about the problem you're getting with your PC again.

I wonder, it might be worthwhile looking/checking to see if you have a hardware problem with your graphics card. This is just a suggestion. I know that in the past you've had a lot of hassle and you and I have emailed each other numerous times. The issue you have isn't normal and could be an indication of an underlying hardware failure rather than just a driver update.

Best of luck.

Dafydd

Thank you for your response. Actually I have three computers I use. Two PCs one three years old, one just purchased this year and my laptop. I have had varying issues with PD7 on each of them, each one different. I have received a response form Cyberlink and they have suggested everything I have already done except to check the directX updated (which it was) they have sent me an updated version. Which I haven't downloaded, however, I have a feeling that this might not fix the problem.

You may be right, but I have a serious suspicion that it might be a software conflict. I will keep you uptodate.

Another learning experience.

Just an update to this. I received a response from cyberlink and they suggested I do a clean up and provided a tool and then suggested i download the fulll version of 2227 (gave me ftp) but the ftp crapped out and now the user name and pw they gave me won't allow me in, so I am missing some pieces. I have followed up with them so that I can get in again.

I will keep you posted.
