I am testing PD14 with a trial version to create a 1080/50p Blue Ray 2D with H.264.

The H.264 video encoding format is not supported in the trial version.

I used the Hardware Acceleration Option & was able to create the

BDMV file structure on disc to be burnt to a Blu ray media later.

This was quite fast.

If you use MPEG-2 you can only create a 1080/50i .

So it is great to see that after many, many years it is now possible to create 1080/50p Bluray discs with PD14,

if you have the full version of PD14 or a trial version with Hardware Acceleration hardware.

I used Windows 10 and a computer with AMD A8-6500 CPU with a built-in GPU.

Thanks for keeping us informed.

Was the BR disc also working well.
I mean was it possible to skip between the chapters (this is an issue in PD13)

My test project was a small, therefore did not want to wast

a 25GB BD-R media. I have run out of 25GB BD-RW media

at the moment. I will post results when when I get some BD_RW

media. The HD version works fine with chapters.

Now I have tested with a BD disc.

PS3 with the latest FW 476

Menu Play sound stops after 10 seconds at each Chapter change.

Menu Scene cannot navigate to Chapter Buttons(locked) & Enter jumps to Play

Samsung BD-C6900

Menu Play OK but blank screen at each Chapter change.

Menu Scene all Chapter Buttons locked

I have done a few projects burning 1080/50p Blu-ray discs in PD13 and my findings are:

  1. 1080/50p is not a standard BD format, but works with some players. It worked on PlayStation 4, but fails on PS3. On PS3 there is only audio, but no picture at all. I have tested this on several PS3 players, not only one. 1080/50P did not work on a Samsung BD-receiver, but it worked on a stand alone Samsung BD-player from 2014, don't know the exact model. 50p did not work on a Pioneer BD-player from 2010.

  2. Because of this I also made a 1080/50i version that plays perfectly on all these players.
