Suggestions for PDR 15

OK, here are my collected suggestions for PDR 15 so far, little things which would make this really nice program so much better. I guess many of them would be "checkbox-easy" to implement, wouldn't they?

All others are invited to add their suggestions too! I hope the Powers That Be take the wishes of their loyal customers and users into serious consideration..."""""cry""""""""""money-mouth""""""""""laughing"""""

  1. clip priority (see my other thread)

  2. timeline marker stops at the end of last clip and doesn't jump back to start position

  3. PiPs and titles should be alterable (e.g. "Breaking News" title scrolling text looping and title not fading out)

  4. In the DVD menus an option to get rid of the countless chapter pages (just having chapters is enough most of the time)

  5. A real "countdown" option would be nice! What use is a countdown graphic which is not customizable ('seconds' etc.?)

  6. In the slide show designer an option in the "motion" style --> "customize" to always start the cropping rectangle full picture. Strangely enough the cropping area rectangle NEVER covers the whole picture!! How can that be?

  7. (Not sure if this is already there): A home movie-style "camcorder" overlay showing round-edged lines in the 4
corners of the frame and a red blinking "record" icon/dot in one corner and maybe a battery symbol plus time code /date?

A good thread to start and is now a sticky for others to add their suggestions too.
I'll ask CyberLink to monitor this thread.

I understand the logic of opening a new suggestion forum, but at the same time I'm afraid CL won't pay much attention to the suggestions in the PowerDirector13 forum, most of which after haven't been implemented in PD14.

What would be nice also is for CL to post some statement as to suggestions being potential features or definite rejects. I7-4770, 3.40Ghz, 16GB RAM, Asus Z87-Plus Z87chipset, Sapphire ATI Radeon HD7850 PCI Express-16 3.0 2GB, Samsung EVO 840 SSD 1TB

Yes, you are right but CL and other makers of software won't probably want us to read in their cards because of the competition, and the final rejects of customers (hard core fans) to still follow program updates... . Fact is that CL has some good pro options build in this last version, but then omit a simple but efficient option such as audio scrubbing... ? These programmers act really strangely... .

Hi,
The PowerDirector 13 suggestions were constantly monitored by a member of CyberLink staff and passed onto the R&D department for consideration. The same monitoring has been initiated for this thread.

Product development and suggested inclusion takes time for any software company, I'm sure the same is for CyberLink.

If any suggestion is to your liking, give it your support, post a comment, post a message and tell CyberLink you like the idea(s) and which ones you want in PowerDirector.

Posts will be read by CyberLink.

I ask for one feature. One single feature. The ability to burn DVD discs in progressive mode. Producing the project in PD12, then moving it over to Sony DVD Architect so I can burn it as progressive is just getting silly.

Whoa slow down PDR 15 !!!.

My Suggestions.

Cyberlink need stop release PDR EVERY FREAKING YEAR !!!.

Time to change to 2 or 3 years cycle to release new PDR.

Cyberlink need more work, fixes buggy PDR within 2 or 3 years period.

Upgrade costs way too much ! for every year and add little features.

I have PDR 12, 13, I wish motion tracker come with PDR 13 but only for PDR 14 that is B.S.

Stop release it too soon.

Include a "Cancel" button during the install so I can stop the installation because I specified the wrong location.

Also, when I choose to install in the folder C:\Program Files\Applications\PowerDirector14

Don't install it into C:\Program Files\Applications\PowerDirector14\PowerDirector14

Did that for 12 & 13.

PD15 nice if includes ability to burn 4K h.265 discs to standard Blu-ray BD-R or perhaps even DVD-R discs with menus.

Since PD13 beat the rest of the industry in supporting h.265 edits, my (mistaken) guess was that PD14 would introduce 4k disc burning.

Not clear if the disc player industry will achieve the original plan to introduce 4K-UHD h.265 disc players by late 2015. These might support newer multi-layer optical discs, but presumably be back-compatible with older BD or DVD formats. Meanwhile, however, could one create 4K UHD h.265 discs and put quite a lot on a mere 25GB BD disc? Could the next version of PowerDVD enable one to play such discs on a PC BD drive, even if the industry delays introduction of (expensive) dedicated players? No existing dedicted players I know of support h.265, or even true UHD, but a computer with the right graphics cards and HDMI2 connection to a 4k screen might be able to do this. Right?

Another (already tried?) idea: "playable" SDHC / thumb drive videos with menus. Most humble mortals who receive a flash card or thumb drive with video files can have trouble navigating about file trees to play files. If the content could be formatted with auto-play macros or appealing menus, it might be easier to share HD or UHD videos this way, even if optical UHD never attains popularity.

Physcial media still retains advantages, since most streamed video gets viewed in the default SD modes, and is not easy to monetize or protect.

Have the Screen Recorder remember the Setup in the Audio Settings. My default is the microphone, not the CD CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

I agree.
I initially bought 12, knowing 13 would be out. Got a great deal. The only reason I went to 14 is for the screen recorder.

Stop imitating Microsoft's practices and listen to your users. Implement the changes/additions/fixes/tweaks. When you have implemented 20, put out a patch. When you reach 10 patches, then come out with a new build. At 10 builds, do a new Version.

Maybe it's just me, since I'm an amateur programmer, but I thought that was Programming 101? CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

I would like the ability to export a motion .gif file. The placement of a .gif in a website is much easier than embedding slideshow code.

Could we please have a volume adjustment slider in the Create Disk Background Music tab, as the created disk menu background music is normally way to loud without doing a custom adjustment.

They have it. It's called Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer.

PowerDirector is consumer grade software.

Yeah ...consumer grade software indeed.

SO limited in every way.

Not able to convert to pro res or anything like it.

Good luck with that..
