nVidia has released a cut down version of GTX960 and still includes the HEVC H265 encode and decode in hardware. Could be a choice for those on a budget using Power Director. Intel i7 4770k, 16GB, GTX1060 3GB, Two 240GB SSD, 4TB HD, Sony HDR-TD20V 3D camcorder, Sony SLT-A65VK for still images, Windows 10 Pro, 64bit

Sure is a good option. But that launch was on August 20:

And sadly, I have bought my GTX 960 when it was launched for the same ammount.

Given the regressions in recent nVidia drivers, I would be wary of buying a GTX 950, as it probably will require the latest buggy drivers to operate (but not "function").

Julien did the driver tests here:

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/45534.page

GTX 950 supports Windows XP, Windows 7, etc with driver versions

355.98

355.82

355.69

so there it goes... sayonara. no PD14!

GTX 960 supports and the driver versions, 347.88, 347.52 & 347.25

so it's good to go.

looks a lot like I will be buying the GTX 960 after all...

Sonic.

did you get the PD14 yet?

i bought the Samsung NX1.

my GTX 750Ti can't render HEVC so CPU alone it renders 1 minute HEVC video to HEVC output takes 33 minutes

with AMD FX 8370E cpu.

however, 5 minutes 4K HEVC videos to 4K AVC H.264 .MP4 renders in 15minutes beating Samsung Movie Converter 1.0.0.13.

Samsung Movie Converter takes about 30 minutes. yes, PD14 is faster than PD13!

FYI, I just tried the new driver 355.98, and the problem is still the same with the rendered clip being audio-only.

Of course, I have a GTX 750Ti. It's not a given that the driver bug will be the same on the GTX 950 . But a strong possibility.

Certainly, I would hold off on buying a GTX 950 until nVidia releases new drivers that work better, or Cyberlink releases an update that works with the latest nVidia drivers.

Also, I don't think the "audio-only" problem with the hardware encoding is just with PD14. I saw it with PD13 previously.

My test case was created with PD14 however, so it can't load in PD13. But I'm prety sure if one tried to create a similar project in PD13, it would fail too.

I wish we would all push the software / hardware vendors a little bit more before hurrying to give them our hard-earned money.

Let them iron out the bugs first, and then buy.

I will probably end up buying a GTX 960 also, but I will wait for bugs to be fixed first. Hopefully by Black friday the bug situation with nVidia + Cyberlink will have improved, and prices will be lower. MSI X99A Raider

Julien, i got a MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G card for $175.00 including shipping.

it wasn't what i've expected to be... see attached photos.

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/45675.page

i got the same results as what Eugene said about rendering time for HEVC to AVC and HEVC to HEVC.

same!

if you do get the GTX 960 then it requires a 8 pin power connector. it comes with 6 pin to 8 pin

connector. i had a spare 3 pin to 6 pin connector so i used it in conjuction with 6 pin to 8 pin connector

to power up the card. supposedly sucks up 120W but...

as you know MSI GTX 750Ti uses the PCIe(75W) power...
