W10 is fast becoming a no-no for me because I value human rights.

The USA is violating these more and more, so I am looking for alternatives as all Windows versions will turn into a snooping system before long.

Is there any way of knowing whether PowerDirector will be available on Linux at some stage or will I really need dual boot?

Thanks

Unlikely, but some have reported that it will run in Wine. There is also a version for Android, but I have barely tinkered with it. I assume it is pretty basic. __________________________________

You may want to give up computing all together then... most electronics all manufactured by Chinese labor under unfair conditions. 4790K / Asus Z97i-Plus / 16gb (2-8gb)crucial @1866 Mhz / Samsung ssd 840 pro 250gb / Samsung 850 evo 250gb M.2 / 2-4tb HGST 7200rpm raid 1 / Nvidia GTX 1070 founders) / corsair RM650 PS / LG BD-RE

Oh dear, I hate when a pessimistic expectation is confirmed. I'll have to wait and see then, what the new year brings. Maybe more people will move to Linux so that it's a viable alternative after a while.

If I worry about manufacturing I can also kill myself. But the manufacturing I can influence, the behaviour of the USA I can't.

Do you have a suggestion regarding my question?

Theoretically, An experienced computer programmer can make any software work with Linux. Of course this will cost money, but if money isnt an object it is a real solution to your question. This is the kind of reply I was hoping for. Also, I hope it is true as I can't fathom the obstacles. It does, however, give me hope that it could be a viable option, depending on customer base.

It also explains why Cyberlink doesn't really mention Linux much.

Thanks

Absolutely correct. It is borderline though, with politics determining what I do with my machine.

Politics also determines what direction my future decisions will take, so the topic, even though I hate it it, does figure.

And of course company politics dictates whether or not I will have to find different editing software should I go the Linux path.
