Deleting a Temp file

Several weeks ago I was working on a project when the power went off, but it was not a project that I wanted saved. When I started up the next time, I was notified that a temp file was saved and did I want to get it back. I clicked NO and opened a new project. I then went about business with my new project and saved that, after which I moved and/or deleted files in my working directory. When I started PowerDirector again, the same prompt appeared. This time I said YES, thinking that I could open the worthless file. Instead I was informed that I had missing files and needed new links. But those files were deleted and are not on my PC. How can I find this temp file and delete it?

When opening PD, if return to autosave project, just ignore the requests.

After loading the entire project, PD question want to save current project, answer no, go to menu File / New Project.

That is not working.

When I do the Ignore, I get the following:

Cyberlink PowerDirector cannot open this media file because it was moved or missing. Check if it's available and then try again.

I do that and it loads the project with with the missing media files, but with chapters, titles and transitions. When I then save the project again, with a new file name. When I open PD again, the same message appears. I have also tried opening the project and then deleting the media files and then saving the project but that does not help.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Go to preferences/General and manually delete all your temp files including your autosaves.

I forgot one detail, when PD carried the project, (missing files in this case).

To try to create new project, PD asks whether to save the current project, answer not proceed.

To delete, temporarrios files and autosave projects, tomasc showed. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Sorry to take so long on getting back to this, but I am still getting the prompt window when I initiate PowerDirector 13. I have gone into Preferences/General and manually deleted all temp files and set the Auto-detect to delete files after 1 Day. I have even deleted all the old .pds files up to the present. I have done so many iterations and combinations of trying to recover that mysterious temp file, like bringing it back, inserting the old media files, or at least files that have the old media files names, and then attempting to save it, but it wants a new file name and not just accepting the recovered file - hoping that I could then kill that .pds.

Nothing seems to work. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am aware of 3 utilities sold to companies to block downloads, stop updates, reverse changes made to a pc. If this is a company pc, then contact the IT person. I found out after deleting a file that later it was in the same place the next day.

It's very strange that you have the problem even after creating a new project. The new project can be completely blank and you shouldn't ever be prompted to open a temp file.

Two more ideas come to mind. Under the Preferences (gear icon), go to the Project tab and uncheck Automatically load last project, then close PD and try opening it again.

If the problem is STILL there, you should fully uninstall PD (and QuickTime and SmartSound, if prompted) and then reinstall using the original DVD or downloaded installer files. You'll need to have your license key but your issue should be solved.

After reinstalling, be sure to get the latest patch for PD (3130) and update QT to v7.7.8 from www.Quicktime.com

Nobody, including Tech Support, could really solve this, so I did it by upgrading to PowerDirector 14
