Does anyone know how I might get these into my PowerDirector 13. I have tried downloading the Sony software but you have to be a registered user of their product to get any use out of it.

I did try a search here using MTX as the key word and recieved 0 results

UPDATE , sorry I can not read , it is MXF files not MTX

markakapops123,
welcome to the Forum. This link > PD Specs will show the formats usable by PowerDirector 13. MTS is fine, I see no mention of MTX, perhaps PD14 will, but that is not yet released.

Here is something I found, though..."MTX is a file extension used with Adobe Atmosphere...not intended to be opened or edited."

When you edited your post, nobody noticed because an edit doesn't trigger an alert or bring the thread to the top like a new post will do. (I found that out the hard way, too )

Now that you've got the correct program type, MXF looks like a video game software extension which PD will not need or use. See here http://www.filedesc.com/en/file/mfx

The MXF file format is for Professional cameras. There are file converters that will convert to a format that Powerdirector can handle such as AVC H.264 formats (M2TS, MP4, or MKV).

And AVCHD MTS and M2TS are common in Sony cameras and one of the worst codecs for editing. It should also be converted to an intermediate codec before edit. Premiere Pro can handle it but most other NLEs give poor results and conversion is tough due to codec licensing costs.
