When I previewed what I had made the day before, the videos are in the same place they were but the preview screen goes blank while they are playing. I can hear the audio, but no video. My files are mts files taken with a canon hd camcorder.

Like I said, everything went great when i first made the project. Videos looked good, sound was good. Please help. I have attached a screen shot of my timeline.

Do you have picture when playing back directly from the library?

Already tried to restart the PC and reopen the project? AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

yes I can see the videos in my library and view them on the preview screen.

by the way, im running windows 10, intel core i5 4670k processor, 8gb of ddr3 memory, 256 gb samsung ssd, quicktime 7.7.7

notice that each video in the timeline is a grey bar with 0,0,0 inside it. what does that mean?

It means the lack of video file, but as the audio is present, it is difficult to understand.
Add a clip again to see what happens. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Clarify please. When you open the project you can actually play a clip in the library (not the timeline). What you describe usually means that the original source video has been removed and PD13 can't find the clips so it replaces the clips with black clip. If you used a, for instance, SD card to transfer the originals from your camera make sure it is in place when you open the project.

If this is the case , transfer the clips to your hdd before editing in future so that the source files are always available to PD
