I can't seem to find an answer to this (probably) very simple question.

I'm making massive slideshow for Year 12 graduation. I want my images to be under 2 seconds, but over the 1:24 seconds that keeps coming up by default when I type in ....say 1:50 or 1:45.

Why? Why can't I have my images duration set for 1:45? It keeps going to 1:24. Jenny

In 25fps pal county 1:24 is 1 frame shy of 2 seconds. That is seconds:frames. If you want 1.45 seconds on 25 fps video then 1.45 seconds x 25 =36.25 frames. That is, set it to 1:11 which is very close to the 11.25 frames you need.

Your in a PAL country and have your preferences set to 25fps. Time code is HH:MM:SS:FF, FF is frames. So at 24 frames the next frame, 25, is a new second of video.

?? oh??? I had no idea. Are you saying that the "1" is a second but the "24" is the frames? not 24ths of a second?

OH!!! that explains a lot. So 1.5 seconds would actually be 01:12 or thereabouts?
Well. I never knew that. Thanks fellas. Jenny
