Any way to Keyframe video speed ?
[Post New]
I am creating a marketing video for a local restaurant that has many very good customer reviews on Facebook. I captured all off the reviews, while scrolling, with a video capture program.

I would like to create the impression that there are so many good reviews that we don't have time to read all of them as they scroll by. So the video speed would start out normal at the beginning, but would get faster as the review video progressed.

I could do this by splitting the video into several parts, and increase the video speed for each part.

But, does PD13 have a way to keyframe video speed ? I couldn't find it. Or a better way to transition the video speed faster and faster ?

Thanks

Hi Clarke -

The short answer is no. Right now, the only way to "gradually" increase or decreas speed is to split the clip multiple times & increase/decrease the speed of each section progressively.

This is a pretty clunky example, but if you make the increments smaller you'll get a smoother progression.

Tony,

Thanks for your answer. That is what I am doing -- splitting the video into several segments.

Another question, please. I'm trying to crop the video, but it looks like I cannot change the aspect ratio of the crop. I would like to change the aspect ratio of the crop, to include only the scrolling screen. But it looks like the crop ratio is fixed to the original size. What am I missing ?

Thanks,

Clark

Clark -

That's right - cropping can only be done in the aspect ratio of the project.

What you need is a mask applied in PiP Designer. If you uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio" you can better modify it to suit your needs.

Hmm - if you're applying a mask to the multi-split video you're going to need to repeat that masking multiple times. It may be best to pre-produce the "speed" clip, so you only have to apply the mask once.

Cheers - Tony
