how can i move files to another folder in windows?

I am a complete newbie to video editing and I just bought Powerdirector 13 yesterday and am pleased with it and have already made a nice video with transitions and audio and it works well. However, I would like to reorganize the folder structure on my hard disk a bit and put both the project file and the video files that are linked to that project into new folders, but when I do that and open the project, the link to the embedded videos are lost and I can't find a way to tell the app to point to the new file location. For now, I just moved the folder structure back to the way it was and the links are restored, but I really want the ability to change the paths any time I need to.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer. I did a search on the forums and did not find anything but it is certainly possible I missed something because I may not have searched using the correct keywords.

Hi and welcome

If you go to EDIT - PREFERENCES - FILE, you can select your "import" and "export" folder. Export is where your saved projects will end up, but you can make the export destination any folder you wish on the system, just browse and select.

You can "produce" to any destination by selecting your desired output folder Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

Thanks Shadowman, but that does not fix the problem. After I've already produced a video and then I move the video files that are part of that video project to another folder, when I open the project again (let's say I want to make some edits or add more videos and then "produce" again) it shows all of the videos as black because it can't find them now that they in a new folder. I tried importing them into the library again, but it still can not see them in the project. There must be a way to accomplish this or we'd never be able to move the video files to another path or disk. Certainly we don't have to keep the path and the drive letters the same for eternity.

Any other thoughts?

I think I found a solution or maybe just a workaround for my problem. If you choose "pack project materials" from the file menu it will create a copy of all the embedded videos plus the project file itself in a folder of your choosing. The project file's embedded video references are updated and you get a portable copy of the project that can be moved anywhere. I tested this and moved the packed project to a different drive and path and when I opened it all of the embedded videos were visible.

Does anyone have any other thoughts on this or is this the best way to do it?

For me you suggestion is best choise. I do that myself it Means even if i change computer I can copy the catalog and open the project, and Work with it aon the new destination - so go for pack materials!
