Hey everybody. I got the original Cyberlink 2.0 software with my JVC camera back in...oh god, 2005? Maybe? Around there. Anyway, I have an old project file I recently dug up off an old harddrive, when I was looking around. I've discovered that the new version of CyberLink (PowerDirector 7.0) can't read this file..

It's a .ppp file. Am I using the wrong piece of software to try to open this, or is the file just out of date? If the latter, is there a way for me to retrieve this files contents by some other means?

Thanks!

my suggestion (which probably won't work) is to change the extension to .pds and see what happens.

The project file you have will NOT be read by PD7. Reverse compatibility doesn't go that far back.

Hmm. That's unfortunate. Do you know a program that would be able to open it, or how I could get Power Producer 2 running on XP? It crashes as soon as I load it, which would seem to indicate some kind of incompatability.

If you have the original captured video on that old hard drive you could import it as media into PD7 and at least be able to re-edit. Or use PD7 to capture from the original tapes if you still have them.
