Windows 10 Compatibility Advisor - Problem

Today, CL gives us a Compatibility advisor software to verify Windows 10 compatibility.

I run it, and it says I have to update PD13 to the last free update. My PD13 is at the last level, patch 2907.1.

Same thing with ColorDirector 3. Here, I have too the last patch level (3507).

So, what is wrong with this W10 compatibilty Advisor software?

Hi Jean-Paul -

I'll just confirm what you've found. Same software here. Same builds. Same message from the Win10 Compaibility Advisor.

I guess the software isn't reading the builds correctly (?).

Not sure whether that indicates that PDR13 & CDR3 are Win10 compatible or not. I've not seen issues reported here.

Cheers - Tony

Very odd. I am running the latest build of PD12 (never did upgrade to 13) and the Windows compatability advisor is telling me that I am all set: "0 incompatible apps."

You have to love Microsoft. Hopefully they will straighten out this issue. From what I have read, Windows 10 is still a "work in progress." I plan to update to Windows 10 when notified and will let you know how I make out.

Have a great day.

Would be great with some feedback from users who updgraded to windows 10 with their PD13. I'm currently on windows 7 and I'm not risking anything until all hands gives the green light. Windows 10 looks great and I'm looking forward to the upgrade.

Like garioch7 above, the Windows compatibility advisor is also is telling me that I am all set: "0 incompatible apps. The cybelink link here : http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/window8-updates-center/enu/index.jsp tells me that my PD9 and oem cyberlink software is not even win 8 compatible. I don't know what to beleive.

I don't and never have . . .

From what I have read, Windows 10 is still a "work in progress."

For "work in progress" read "let the customers find the bugs".

FWIW I won't be upgrading to Windows 10 for the very compelling reason that it won't let you disable automatic updating. I have read elsewhere that the main reason for this is security. My response to that is it wouldn't be necessary if Windows wasn't so full of security holes. It never ceases to amaze me that every few weeks a tranche of new security patches gets issued for Windows. The cumulative total since W7 was resleased must be in the hundreds if not thousands. I don't think the Unix-based Mac OS or Linux need this constant patching but I'm willing to be proved wrong. If Cyberlink produced a version of Power Director that would run on one of these I'd switch like a shot.

One thing to maybe consider...
PD13 build may be 2907.1 but the exe file version shows 13.0.2907.0. Maybe The CompAdvisor is correct in that CL has the wrong version on the exe??? CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

I've been using Windows 10 since the first build and PowerDirector along with the other Director Suite softwares ran without issues. It is best to ignore that issue since everything runs smoothly in the Windows 10 version released yesterday. I have the Windows 10 update laying om my desk, but I have some concerns about the "security" features they are forcing on us since Windows 7...and I still want to know what happened to Windows 9. It's all very suspicious. __________________________________

Hi folks, I have YouCam 3.5 that came OEM with my HP Beats laptop circa 2012...the upgrade certificate is blocked and I am not even sure if this will get it to work with my shiny new Win10. I would appreciate some advice, please.

I remember seeing the update assistant on a fairly new hp notebook pc running win 8.1. If each of the installed software or app was not updated or upgraded with that update assistant before upgrading to win 10, then they can't be updated or upgraded anymore. The hp win 10 update assistant won't update the software originally installed with win 8.1. You must buy new software.

If you just recently upgraded to win 10, then you can roll back to the previous os. Update everything using the old hp update assistant. Install win 10 afterwards.
