The video files are typically 45-70 mins long, and the camera breaks these into 3.99GB files (usually 20 mins or so in length each) so I import these via Panasonic's HD Writer to 'stitch them together' into a single file...however this often leaves small blips or non-sync audio or video at the joining points.
I tend to break a concert into 2 halves (before and after interval) as 2 video files and do the same with the audio files. The video files tend to require trimming of content from before the performers come on stage and after they leave it, for each half of the concert.
Then I need to use MultiCam designer to 'sync by audio', making the Audio source the Imported Audio (from the standalone recorder) I need to add titles for concert and performer name (at start) and song titles at the beginning of each, plus end credits at the conclusion. The final destination is likely to be either YouTube or DVD.
With this being the typical editing scenario, I have some specific questions about the workflow which I'm seeking help with.
- I have the ability to sample rate convert the standalone recorded audio to 48 kHz from 44.1...should I do this ? Is Multicam's Audio analysis sync doing this on the fly anyway, even if I don't ?
- In what order should I do the video trimming, adding titles, audio analysis sync/record ?
- Would it be better if I produced the video and audio as a single long file rather than 2 concert halves, then edited this large file afterwards ?
- Is audio analysis sync able to operate if the camera audio and standalone audio are of different lengths (ie there might be 10 mins of disparity between them if I stopped the audio recorder but allowed the video camera to continue recording through the interval break of the concert ?
- Is Power Director able to do the 3.99GB file stitching/combining/joining or do I need to continue using the Panasonic HD Writer file import software ?
Thank you for any help you're able to give with this workflow query !
