Freeze Frame Snapshot is poor resolution

I'm making a 'how to' video. When i do a freeze frame, it grabs a snapshot. The resulting snapshot is of lower resolution than the original, so when i do playback, the screen shrinks a little for the duration of the screenshot.

Any suggestions ?

Im using PD13

Hi toastamahogey -

PlaySound's suggestion is the first thing I'd have suggested too. Without that option checked, PDR will default to 1920x1080 (whatever the resolution of your video). In Preferences, what do you have your image settings at? JPEG? PNG? BMP? .GIF?

That said, even without that item checked, I cannot replicate your observation here. It's a genuine freeze frame with no shrinking or glitch.

Do you get any different result when you split the video, take a snapshot & insert it manually? You shouldn't - just checking.

Cheers - Tony

Which option needs to be checked? I must have missed that.

The resoultion of the 'snapshot' against the input video and the resulting production file to not match.

I agree - freeze frame should be glitch free. And i Did try to split, snapshot and instert manually.

Here's a video of the problem:

Oh - so it's from screen capture software. That may be the issue.

From the video you posted, it looks like the settings on your capture software aren't set to a 16:9 capture window. I can't explain why the snapshot has black bars on each side.

When making tutorials, my workflow is typically:

  1. Set Camtasia Studio to record a 1280x720 window

  2. Do the screen capture

  3. In editing, add freeze frames where needed

  4. Produce to 1280x720

I don't recall EVER getting a snapshot with black surrounds unless that's recorded in the capture.

Your settings in Preferences are just fine laughing

Cheers - Tony

UGH just a slight blurring and my source resolution doesn't look so good.

http://youtu.be/Fi8MRDkjpyY

I probably need to drop my screen resolution so the 1280X720 capture region looks clearer.. buy the freezes DID have a detectable blur ..
