Would a switch to Windows 10 mess up my Powerdirector 13 install?
[Post New]
Hey gang,

I have two laptops. One has Windows 7 installed and the newer one has the newest (I believe Windows 8.1). Powerdirector 13 is installed on the newer laptop (Windows 8.1). Recently, I received automatic notices from Microsoft on both laptops that I can reserve free Windows 10 updates for each laptop. I went ahead and accepted and reserved a future automatic install of Windows 10 on my older laptop running Windows 7. However, I'm hesitating to do the same on my newer laptop (Windows 8.1) because I don't want my Powerdirector 13 to mess up!

Any advice or inside info?

Thanks a bunch!

As long as it is an update and not a full install you should be Ok. Did you save a copy of the PD installer that you downloaded just in case? There is someone on here testing Windows 10 that may be able to give you a more certain answer. __________________________________

It would be nice to have a tool to check win 10 software compatibility. Here is one to check hardware: http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/windows-10-preparation-tool-windows-7-windows-81-updated . It is too early for software developers to know.

I used the Win 10 Preview for over a month. It's more like Windows 8.3. I'm sure Msft has done some 'under the hood' stuff, but really doesn't look that much different than Win8. I didn't run into ANY hardware or software issues. I didn't have PD13 on that laptop, but I did have another video editor. I don't anticipate any issues with PD13.

Msft seems to be pushing the 'Windows Universal app'. One app that runs on everything. I'm afraid the desktop may disappear at some point. Intel i7 4770k, 16GB, GTX1060 3GB, Two 240GB SSD, 4TB HD, Sony HDR-TD20V 3D camcorder, Sony SLT-A65VK for still images, Windows 10 Pro, 64bit

Look at the small print in the sales blurb for Power Director 13. It says it is Windows 10 ready. I don;t believ everything I read but this is an indication that it may be OK>

I would hold off on the laptop install/update untill reading posts here about it. If people have no problems, then I would go ahead with it. .

Anna2015, The reservation you made by clicking on the taskbar icon just lets MS know that you'd like to get the free upgrade to Win10 for that computer when it's released at the end of July. Nothing will happen in the meantime unless you choose to install one of the pre-release versions.

Andrew, I have several versions of PD running perfectly fine on Win10. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you're in the process of removing Windows update (do you mean rolling back to Win7/8.1?)

In either case, please start a new thread if you want members to try and help. Please read the info in this *thread* and post the info requested in parts A and B

Just installed the latest media suite \Ultra w/ PD13. PD just freezes when I try to do any thing. it seem to import a file ok but when I start trying to work on the file in any capacity it just stops working. I had installed ultra for PD 12 and also had this problem but was told by CLs that this new PD13 would sort the problems.

Eric, please start a new thread because your situation is different.

It would help a great deal if you could read through the first sticky thread (Welcome ...) and post the details requested in parts A and B. It might also help to have a sample clip (Part J) and a screen capture or two of what's happening on your computer.

With that information available, we'll have a much better chance of getting you going!

I'm not sure why you're willing to post your dissatisfaction with your experience but not willing to give the volunteers on this forum any information that might help resolve your problems. The details that I requested are how we'd get from "it just stops working" to understanding what the issue is and finding a solution. Nobody wants anything personal from you and no one wants to waste your time.

Not a single person here works for Cyberlink, and every response you see to someone else's question is because people genuinely want to help.

By all means, seek a refund if you're done with PD. The forum is always here if you change your mind. Peace.

I am wrapping up a movie for business with a deadline and everytime I load in the Credits from the titles, the timeline stops the movie and after 10 or so seconds it skips to past all the credits. I have tried everything to fix this problem. Including downloading a patch. I need help with this. Granted, I have made a ton of edits.

I recently loaded Windows 10 and this problem occurred since then. LLFoot

Hi Lizerbean60&learning

This is an old thread, and I think it would be better to start a new one. Please post a screenshot of your timeline where the problem is occurring, and also run the DxDiag test as described in the "Welcome" sticky on the forum index page.

It sounds to me like there's simply too much going on in that part of the timeline for PD to preview it in real time, and skipping ahead is a very common occurance. I can't say if it's related to Win10 or not but if you can post the above two items we can uncover or rule out other issues.

I have upgraded to Windows 10 for a couple of weeks now, and 2 days ago out of nowhere power director 13 keeps crashing. Plenty of room on the PC everything is up to date. A technician even helped me out with a fresh install, im no quite sure what did it. Sometimes it works for about 10 Minutes then crashes again with an exe error

My son has been running PD 13 and now PD 14 on his MS Surface laptop with Win 10 for quite some time with no problems.

I have PD 13 on my desktop with Win 10, no problems.
