not a huge issue, but the player claims avi is not a supported format?

its not a huge issue like I said, I have other media players, and a majority of the files are not in avi format -- I rarely come across avi anymore.

but when I tried to load up an xvid encoded AVI I got this error with powerdvd 15 Ultra the first time,

then I tried to load up a few samples that werent DivX or Xvid encoded -- same thing, with regular MPEG encoded AVI.

so I know its not related to the DivX or Xvid encoding.

I read up on old versions that sometimes uninstalling DivX helps, but it still doesnt.

anyone have a clue why the player isnt supporting the .avi files?

again its NOT just divx encoded ones... its ANY of them!

Run something like mediainfo over them to see if theres anything special about the files. MP4-ASP should be fine generally.

nope, nothing special.

I guess I just have no choice but to use VLC for .avi files for some reason.

the only thing I really like about pdvd is pro logic and the extra bass from the audio enhancement, its not really the end of the world without it.

it just sucks that for whatever reason it is freaking out with avi files.

at first I thought it was just that it didnt include xvid or divx codecs, but since its all avi packages I ruled that out
