Potential "display" problem caused by PowerDirector 13?

I have an HP Pavilion 23-b330 All-in-One PC, 8GB RAM, AMD A6-5200 (x64) Processor, Radeon HD 8400 HD 2.0 GHZ Graphics. Worked perfectly since purchase, 13 months ago. My Operating System is Windows 8.1, working without problem.

Installed the Trial version of PowerDirector a couple of weeks ago. Occasionally upon starting the program. the system hung up showing a "blue patterned" screen, rendering the system completely dead in the water. Only a hard restart brought it back to life. Many times that worked just fine and let me continue, but often the problem repeated itself.

I then downloaded the latest version of the Display Driver, which didn't make any difference.

I purchased to full version of PD 13 yesterday and was (initially) happy to have everything working well. Then the problem started again!

Please note: I've been using dozens PC's since the early 80's, running hundreds of programs. NEVER came across that weird type of screen, showind blue vertical stripes of various densities.

Any suggestion of what it could be would be appreciated. Because it only happened with this particular software (PD 13) I thought one of you might have had a similar experience

Thanks,

Maxwell15

I saw that pattern on a TV set with a defective Display panel or the Mother board.

It was a new TV set, that I returned in warranty.

I have not seen that pattern generated by PD 13.

Thanks Carl312 ......

I ran the HP Diagnostics check but it found nothing wrong. And it only happens occasionally, when I try to open Power Director 13. PD13 by itself seems to run fine once I'm able to open it. I'm still hoping for somebody to shine a light on that mystery, and will consider the problem unsolved until it's gone.
