When I insert a crossfade between two music video clips taken from different cameras, I find that the second clip seems to freeze momentarily at the end of the fade, which can look at bit odd. Peter

Hi Peter2014

Does it freeze when you're playing your project in the timeline or after you have Produced your movie?

If it is during playback in your timeline trying reducing the quality of the playback - rectangle in rectangle symbol beneath the preview window.

You can always highlight the area and use the Produce Range tab to see how it looks

Hi Peter in SA -

Neil in Vic has offered a couple of suggestions & here's one from me in NSW...

Try switching that fade transition from "Cross" to "Overlap" and see if that makes a difference. I learnt that a while back from Jeff (JL_JL) - https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/30703.page#168750 - that thread makes enlightening reading.

WooHoo! I remembered something! laughing

Cheers - Tony

Hi, Peter 2014,

If you insert the transition as "cross", then they will be a "freeze" at the end of the first clip. This is normal behavior. You may want to switch the transition to "overlap" to have a smooth fade effect applied.

As folks note, this is normal for CROSSfades...

The TO shot freezes to the midway point, then the FROM shot freezes to the end of the fade. HELP explains the timing...

"· Cross Transition: when using a cross transition, the two clips are side by side on the timeline and the transition acts like a bridge between them. For example, if you add a two second transition between two five second clips, the total duration is 10 seconds. The transition begins at the four second mark of the first clip, and ends at the one second mark of the second clip.

· Overlap Transition: when using an overlap transition, the two clips overlap while the transition is taking place. This allows for parts of the two clips to play over each other during the transition. Using the same example as above, the total duration is eight seconds, with the transition playing for two seconds over both clips."

I have a similar issue with my Fade Transition it freezes after each one. I will say when the video is rendered/Produced no problems, its just during the editing phase. I tried your fix and it works but i dont want a work around. I really don't like the overlap, the cross looks much better.

I remember in PowerDirector 12 this happen until Cyberlink released a update.

I was still using PowerDirector 12 even though i have owned PowerDirector 13 for 5 months because of this. My machine Hard drive died last week and now im strictly using PowerDirector 13. Editor of YouTube.com/MakeUPbyKIANI

Hi EluvFX71 -

It's not a "fix" or a "workaround" - it's just how those transition types behave. laughing

All I am saying is in PowerDirector 12 we had the same issue with Transitions. They put out an update for PowerDirector 12 that corrected lockups, random closing, transitions locking up and that corrected a lot of the issues. Im having those same issues with PowerDirector 13 that i had with 12. Initially i thought my issues were i upgraded from 12 to 13 on the same machine, but my hard drive died on that machine earlier this past week. I just loaded a fresh different machine with Windows 8.1. It only has 13 and its sluggish on transitions and closes out at times.

Do you have a best practices on settings for PowerDirector 13?

I really in enjoy the Director Suites because they give me everything i need. Editor of YouTube.com/MakeUPbyKIANI
