AVCHD is another option for good quality (if your project will fit on a normal DVD) and cheaper - but needs a BluRay player.
Like Barry I also have to produce DVDs. My internet is very slow and I cannot upload 1gb+ vids to the web. My Input is 1920x1080 50p but I am disappointed in my normal PD13 reduced quality DVDs. I use PAL 25 or 50fps.
According to Wiki, DVD format supports "DVD-Video uses H.262/MPEG-2 Part 2 compression at up to 9.8 Mbit/s. At a display rate of 25 frames per second, interlaced (commonly used in regions with 50 Hz image scanning frequency):720x576 pixels (same resolution as D-1)" D-1 is required for 16:9 DVDs.
In PD13 I can produce MPEG-2, DVD HQ 720x576/50i, 8Mbps Mpeg files which look better to me than if I use Create Disc, 2D, 16:9, Mpeg-2, HQ-Best Quality and let it render and produce a DVD. I use Create Disc to have Titles and chapters,
Does anyone know what "Best-Quality" is?
My BluRay DVDs look good 16:9, H.264, HD1920x1080/50i, but maybe not as good as the AVC MP4 file produced at 1920x1080on my TV.
I do produce an AVC H.264 1920x1080/25p 16 Mpbs MP4 file to view best quality on my TV before I produce BluRay, AVCHD, or normal DVD's.
What is AVC M2TS? I can produce an Mp4 AVC at 1920x1080/50p 28Mbps which is higher quality than my MP4 file.
What is AVC MKV?
Im not sure what XAVC S is for??
Thanks
Al
