Cannot import transitions

When I try to double-click on a ".dztr" file I downloaded from the director zone, nothing happens. If I do the same with DVD menu files or title files, it DOES work (I get a message telling me it imported, and it appears). Any suggestions?

I'm new to PowerDirector. I have Power Director 13 ultimate with Windows 7 pro 64 bit.

Give 2 click the downloaded file DirectorZone, there is a message that was installed with success.
Open PD13 and seek correspondete room to effect downloaded.
Transition, will show in Transition Roon [F8] / Downloaded.
Menu will appear on stage Create Disc.

Note:
It can happen an effect, be corrupted or error.

I think you miss my point. I double click. Then, instead of getting a successfully imported message, NOTHING happens. However, if I'm importing something else (like a title or a DVD menu), then it works!

Any thoughts?

Installing alpha transition DZTR and in the same way as for other purposes.

If this with PD already open in the corresponding room is shown the effect immediately.

As I said has rare cases, the effect has error should discard it. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

I appreciate the input on how it is supposed to work. The problem here isn't that I don't know what you're supposed to do. I am doing what you're supposed to do. And it works for Titles, and Effects and Menus, but not for Transitions. When I doubleclick the download, NOTHING happens. At all. And I don't think its a corrupt file. I've downloaded half a dozen and they all behave the same way.

HELP! ! !

Hi Michael -

When you double click to install the transition, nothing happens? No alert. No "installed & good to go" message? Nothing?

Could you please check in C:\Users\Public\CyberLink\Downloaded Transitions? Are there any folders there containing the transitions you've tried to install? (you'll be able to tell by the thumbnails)

Next, could you check the EffectExtractor.exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\Shared files Is the file size about 2.97MB? or less? Is the date created (in Properties) 13 October, 2014? or sometime in 2010?

If it's not the latest & largest, you could try replacing your EffectExtractor with the one poted here - http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/41623.page#217847

Just fishing around, trying to work out where the issue is.

Cheers - Tony

There is no "Downloaded Transitions" directory-- only the other ones.

However, with the EffectExtractor, it was interesting. The one I had installed was from 2010, about 500K in size. So I followed the link you provided and installed that version, which is date 5/13/2014. Still doesn't work, but I wonder if this is still not the correct version. I just purchased, downloaded and installed this software 24 hours ago, from CyberLink. I cannot imagine, for the life of me, why there would be an old version of that file. But, apparently, there was. The only other CyberLink product I had on my computer was their DVD player. Perhaps that file was already there and the installation, for some reason, didn't overwrite it.

Here is the info on what is now there from the link you gave me:

EffectExtractor 5/13/2014 8:41 PM Application 960KB
EffectExtractor.exe.manifest 2/26/2013 4:48PM MANIFEST File 2KB

If I understand correctly, the importing of transitions is new to PD13. If that's the case, it looks to me like there's a bug in their install which doesn't install the EffectExtractor if there's already one there, or something like that. Can you tell me what the info on your install looks like? Anyplace I can get the most current version?

SOLVED! ! !
Thank you ynotfish. It was the Extractor file. What I did is installed the program on a computer with no CyberLink stuff on it. Copied off the Extractor and manifest files, then deleted the new install (lots of trouble just to get the file, but what the heck). WORKS! ! !

Thank you again for steering me in the right direction.
