How to install a Patch

Where can I find the details on how to install a patch.

Whenever I open PD 13 I'm pointed to a patch to download. I now have this patch about four times in my Downloads folder.

The problem is when I start to install the patch it keeps pointing to an incorrect folder (My Documents) and begins to install the patch there, and I keep having to cancel the installation. I cant seem to change the path of the install to the correct folder, which I presume should be where PD 13 is.

How can I change this and are there any instructions anywhere for me to follow on installing a patch into PD 13..

When you download a Patch (.exe) you pick a folder to save the file.

Then you double click that downloaded file, it will extract into a temporary folder, once the extraction is done, it will continue and update your PowerDirector.

Patches know where Powerdirector is located on your computer. You just download the patch for your version of PowerDirector.

The way I do, download the update I select another folder to receive download (folder with Cyberlink products).

Downloaded file, right click in the "PowerDirector_2528_GM5_Patch_Patch_VDE141231-01.exe"
select extract to PowerDirector_2528_GM5_Patch_Patch_VDE141231-01.exe

A folder is created with the same name, within this all PD13 installation files.

2 click on the Setup.exe file installs PD13.

After installation, you can delete this temporary folder.

Thank you both for your help with this.

I created a subfolder within the Downloads folder purely for Cyberlink, as suggested. Pointed to this folder and the patch was saved there.

I double clicked to extract the files and they still went into Documents.

I double clicked these extracted files and then they were installed somewhere ???

How can I test out that they have installed correctly?

I presume I can now delete the patch that was sent to Documents?

I noted that within Documents there were two patches.

3026_GM6 that I'm thinking was maybe an older patch for PD 11?

and also 2408_GM4 presumably the current patch?

Sorry if I'm being long winded about this, but I'm still not sure why they are going into the Documents folder, and if in fact they have installed correctly.

Hi Babs2

2408 is the current one.

To see if it installed proper open PD.
Click on the PD camera image (top left corner).
That will bring up an about screen - and you can see the version on that page. Win8.1 Pro x64 / Dual x5670 / 24GB / GTX960 4GB / 240GB SSD + 640GB HDD / PD13 Ultimate

Don't double click on exe.
Install 7zip free utility: http://www.7-zip.org/
It is the one used by CL to compact their software, you can see it in the folders.
Then use right click on the exe file and "extract to..."

Thank you everyone. I do have the correct version installed.

Is it safe to use a BETA version of 7-Zip 9.38 beta

I am using Windows 8.1.

For what you do – the beta is fine.
In future I would recommend you use the current stable version of software instead the beta version (unless you need one of the beta features).
