Smartsound is deadly to editing

Ya, I have posted this before, quite some time ago, but I must repeat that using Smartsound (Magic Music) absolutely stops my editing in it's tracks. A little timeline humor there...
I don't even need to be playing it, just placing any Magic Music clip into a timeline brings my i7 16 desktop to a near-grinding halt.
I can barely move my other media clips at all, in any of my timelines.
There is no bigger fan here of Magic Music than me, but something is wrong and for me it's almost completely useless.
To make use of my MM I need to produce the file first as a WMA, or similar, and then use that new file.
Just venting. I don't expect an answer.
Does this happen to anyone else here?
Runtime error, crash. Fun.

I have never had that problem with Magic Music.

I can add MM to the timeline, stretch or compress the length, no problem.
However, I do tend to add Smartsound music after I have the project just about complete so that I know the length of the music that I need.

I'm the same as Carl - no problems here.

My only gripe is that MM can only be used on the Music Track Happing editing

Hi Barry -

Sorry to hear SmartSound is still giving you grief - and you've been such a strong SS advocate!

I couldn't describe it as "deadly" from my experience. A bit slow & unresponsive at times, but it rarely falls over as you've described.

I'm sure you've tried everything you can think of to sort it out... but do you think completely uninstalling QuickTime, then re-installing the current version might snap SS out of its misery?

Another suggestion I followed up that helped SS was updating my audio drivers - Realtek. That really helped.

Cheers - Tony

On the Realtek audio driver.

I updated to the latest version 2.75, it caused me to lose my front panel Microphone input and the Sound Manager.
I use that mic input for voiceovers.

I backed down to the one I already had installed.

From Dxdiag.txt
Driver Name: RTKVHD64.sys
Driver Version: 6.00.0001.7083 (English)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
WHQL Logo'd: Yes
Date and Size: 11/5/2013 19:47:54, 3707864 bytes

Just a warning that things do not always work like they are supposed to work.

Other than losing my front panel mic input the Realtek 2.75 worked OK.
