Best settings for making a DVD

Hi,
This is my first time making a DVD, and I’m not sure what is the best format to use, is it AVC MPEG-4 that would best to use?
And what would be the best Profile name/quality should I pick?

And will this setup to make a DVD…will it work in all of DVD players?

Ok....I will use AVC.MPEG4.
Resolution 1440x 1080 because I do not have an HD dvd player.
but I don't know what to set the;
Rate Control at?
Length
B-Frames
Average Bitrate
Max Bitrate or the speed quality at.

as ur title,
if you wanna create a "DVD"
as DVD spec, whatever source resolution you used, PDR will downscale it to 720*480(max)

if you want to use higher resolution, buy a PS3 as AVCHD/BD player
