I'm coming to grips with a new video camera (Panasonic v250) which records in AVCHD.. However, when I edit it in PowerDirector 11 and burn to disc I can't seem to play the disc on my PC or on my HD TV through a video disc player. What do I have to do - convert to MPEG? - to get it to play OK? And by converting will it still be in HD or will it lose quality? Thanks for any help for a struggling newbie!

whenever you burn AVCHD to a DvD disc, then you need Blu-Ray player not the
regular DvD player.

in order to play burned AVCHD, H.265 HEVC, .MP4, etc. I use MPC-HC and FFDshow codecs available
from the www.free-codecs.com

hope that helps and it will. 'no bridge too far'

Sound like you may be still on a win xp operating system. Try the free vlc player on the pc.

Thanks for that. Yes, I'm considering a new player - it's time to upgrade! My OS is Windows 7. Cheers

I recently shot a video of a rail motor preservation society located in the town of Paterson, about an hour's drive out of Maitland in NSW, Australia. With me was a friend whose camera shot in AVCHD video. I had no trouble mixing his clips and mine(MPEG-2) and producing to an MPEG-2 final product. I also converted his clips to MPEG-2 for him without any loss in image quality.
