Waveforms not displaying

When I load up an audio file, the waveforms are not displayed. This makes synchronizing a little tricky. It's not impossible, just a little more time consuming. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

If your file is large PD takes a bit of time to scan it and therefore show it on the timeline. Win 10, i7

thanks that was the problem. I added a small 2 min file and in a couple seconds, it showed the waveforms. I guess the 2 hour long file will just take some time to show.

With large video clips the video track is displayed first then the audio. On a 1 hour clip the audio graphics may take more than a minute to appear.

Same is happening to me. I put a 3 minute file into my timeline. It's been 15 minutes, but still no waveforms showing.

Many things have changed since this discussion was first started. Which version of PD are you having trouble with?
