Blu-Ray data disc burning not an option with Power2Go

I did see the following post in this forum:

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/27688.page

Mine is a little different, plus the outcome on that post was that the original poster went with different software.

The problem is that Power2Go only gives the option for data burning to CD and DVD, not to Blu-Ray, even though I have a Blu-ray burner (made by LG).

I am running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1, 64-bit.

Note that the Cyberlink Blu-Ray Disc Suite is version 8.00.2820 and the Power2Go version is 6.2.0.6020. I have a serial number starting with MES.

The machine was built by Intrex (local vendor) in late 2013. I've only now attempted to burn Blu-Rays for the first time. The folks at Intrex could only suggest trying out this forum.

Note that I was curious to see what would happen if I attempted to upgrade, so I tried the Upgrade button. The web page compared the current functionality of Power2Go with what I would get with the upgrade. The data disc burning for Blu-Ray was listed as a functionality I should already have, so I did not make an attempt to upgrade. Most likely, I would have spent the upgrade fee and still not be able to burn Blu-Ray data discs.

So what makes Power2Go decide its data disk targets? Note that I've not yet put a disc in the drive, and I've not yet even given it a drive choice.

Perhaps someone will know if there's a patch needed for this problem, or what I would need to do to make Power2Go have a Blu-Ray choice.

One possible reason is your LG Blu-ray burner isn't recognized with Blu-ray burning capability by Power2Go.
What's your LG Blu-ray burner model number?

Yes, I think you are right! The model number is this one:

http://www.lg.com/us/data-storage/lg-UH12NS29

I see at the LG site that it is Blu-Ray read-only.

I'm fairly certain I'd requested from Intrex that this be a BD writer. But only now was I attempting to do writing. I see on their invoice that it did not say BD writer, so it's my oversight.

I will work with Intrex to handle this. Perhaps my BD writer from my previous machine can be transferred and then it will behave properly.

I will re-post to this forum once I have more info. Thanks for the info!

I should point out that the folks at Intrex today were commenting that they rarely deal with people wanting to write Blu-Ray data. People just get more external hard drives or use cloud storage. I've had too many drives die to rely on long-term drive storage, and cloud storage is still questionable in my opinion, plus my upload speed is a fraction of my download speed.
