Hello, Have been editing today and cutting out little snips constantly from an impersonator audio I have. When playing want to stop so hit the square stop button, which takes me to beginning of video every time. If I hit pause it works, but like 50 of the 200 times have tried to halt the play for a Split hit Stop instead of Pause. I am shaving to the frame.

Is there anyway to get Stop to Stop instead of taking me from 15 mins in, back to 0 seconds?

Thanks

I am not sure what the issue is with the STOP button. I have never used it.

I press the spacebar to stop the video, and hit it again to resume. It is one of the shortcut keys. If that doesn't work for you, then I think that there might be a problem with your installation being corrupt.

Let us know how you make out. I hope this helps. Have a great day.

Stop button is just that a STOP. Stop takes you to the front of the Clip if Clip Mode, or Beginning of the Movie if Movie Mode.

The Play Button is a Toggle, Click Play, Pause, Play.

Also the keyboard shortcut is the Space Key, Press Space is Play press again is Pause. Play, Pause, Play. Space Bar is also a Toggle.

While paused you can use the one frame advance or reverse on the player or "," (comma) previous frame. "." (period) Next frame.

Thank you fellows. Just have to force myself to stop using the Stop button. Maybe the space bar would be better.

Hi, No matter how much I try, this is still a huge problem for me. If used only PD might be able to overcome it. But the other software such as my sound editor uses the square stop button as a stop right there button.

And hardware such as tape recorders use the sq stop button as a stop right there button. So have decades of Stop meaning Stop experience. I am mouse oriented too.

In fact maybe am showing my ignorance here but PD is the only program can ever recall that uses the sq stop button as a "fast forward to the beginning" button.

There is no pause button on my sound editor, it is just sq stop and play button, and play does not toggle. I go back and forth every few minutes between the two programs as am using sound only (voice) to activate a third program that turns the voice into an animated talking avatar video, which then edit in PD.

I have left gaps in my timeline where I am editing because 25-50 times a day I have to find where I was, after Stop fast forwards me to the beginning of the video.

So this is a huge productivity problem. Is there anyway PowerDirector could have an option to have stop button act the way I am used it it working on other software?

Powerdirector for as long as I have used it has always had Stop is beginning of Clip or Movie. With Play being a toggle between Play and Pause.

You could write a ticket to Cyberlink support suggesting Stop be made to be Pause. I would not hold my breath for that change.

It is just a matter of the software you are used to using.
