Adding Animation to Charts and Graphs to PowerDirector 13 Video

[list]Does anyone know if it is possible to add animation to Charts and Graphs to PD13 or create an animated chart or graph in any of Cyberlink's companion programs. I'm coming to PD13 from Adobe CS 5.5 in particular Premiere Pro and After Effects. With those programs I could create and animate charts and graphs fairly easy. I am assuming at a minimum, I could create a chart or graph in say PowerPoint and import it into PD13 as a static entity. However, I'm working on a business presentation where the video clips to be included are too complicated for PP so if I can find a way to animate things in PD13, it would solve a major problem. Any ideas?

Not sure how much or what type of animation you need, but if you are trying to add PowerPoint type graphics animations but need to overlay or mix it with a lot of video content, I'd be inclined to use PowerPoint to do the charts and animation, and save it as a .wmv file and import to PD, then use PIP and masks to overlay it on the video.
You can add a certain amount of animation using PIP, Titles and Power Tools to the animated chart as a whole, but the actual chart animation may be easier in PPT.
I would be included to do a rough cut edit first with place holders for the charts, so I knew the duration I needed for each animated chart, before I finalized the PowerPoint side.
(I'm stronger in PPT than I am in PD, so someone with more PD skill may offer a more elegant solution.)
Cheers.

I have used the painter function to make lines on a chart, and used colorboards as bars in a bar chart, you just make the box s-t-r-e-t-c-h into a bar!

BTC:

This exactly what I need to do regarding financial data in a bar chart. However, the suggestion that 18tillidie made just before your post might also work. The only problem I see doing in in PPT and saving it as a WMV file takes away a little of the flexibility in lining up any narration there is with the movement of the chart sections. I've always found it easier to edit the audio/narration to line up with the movement of the chart than the other way around. In my case, the narration will be recorded in Pro Tools and dropped into PD as an MP3 file. Anyway, I give both suggestions a shot. Thanks for your help.

If I had a writing pad the downward trending graph would have been smoother lines. The drawing tool in PD is difficult to master, for sure. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

TeeMan1,

Once you have the .wmv clip of the animated chart, you can clip it into sections and adjust the speed, take a snapshot to create a pause, the clip the next section, adjusting the speed as needed to match your narration.

See the PDToots called "Stopping the Clock" for an example of how to do this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7nh4LUWWmE

(Use Chromakey to remove the background from the chart, and stretch or shrink as needed and position it relative to your background clips.)

Cheers.

Thank you very much for your tip(s). I will check out the PDToots clip. I would have never thought of the snapshot option. Great idea.

Best,
