Encode all clips before creating project to use SVRT
[Post New]
Hi all,
I'm thinking to encode all clips needed for a project before inserting them into the project/timeline.
So I can produce many times sparing a lot of time encoding. (I see a lot of errors only when watching the produced file ... )

I've tried to encode all my clips to MP4 AVC 1280x720 @ 30.00(also 29.97) fps 10Mbps and audio stereo AAC 192kbps.

This is the format I will produce my videos.

BUT PowerDirector shows me in SVRT track that it will re-encode all clips, even if the clips are put on timeline without effects, transitions etc.. nothing else ... only my clips.

Is maybe MP4 AVC a format that is incompatible with SVRT of PDR 12????

thanks in advance!
Michele

You can add any clip's in PD, the timeline before you start editing and see if SVRT will work for all the clip's, do not get a profile that will connect SVRT, will be rendering in this case I think best left to produce video after editing the profile you want.
If connecting SVRT is best left to produce after editing, this is my opinion, has not certified technician.

It will convert the original video to another profile make sure that this will turn SVRT, and thus prevent new recoding, after editing.

MP4 HD, maybe need to create a custom profile to connect SVRT. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

I'm still a newbie trying to figure out how SVRT works, but I got this information from the PDR12 User Guide:
Intelligent SVRT: When Is Used?

Intelligent SVRT can be applied to video clips in the MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.264 and DVAVI
(Type I) formats. In the following conditions, clips (or portions of clips) do not
require rendering during production, and SVRT can therefore be applied:

>The frame rate, frame size, and file format are the same as those of the
destination production profile.
>The bitrate is similar to that of the destination production profile.
>The TV format is the same as that of the destination production profile. For more information,
see Setting TV (Video Clip Interlacing) Format.

If all of the above conditions are met, SVRT can be used. Any clips that do not meet the above
criteria are fully rendered without SVRT.

In the following conditions, clips (or portions of clips) must be rendered during
production, and SVRT can therefore not be applied:

>Adding a title or transition effect
>Modifying the color of a video clip
>Merging two video clips (clips within 2 seconds before or after the merged clips will be rendered)
>Splitting a video clip (clips within 2 seconds before or after the split will be rendered)
>Trimming a video clip (clips within 2 seconds before or after the trimmed clip will be rendered)
>If the total duration of the production is less than one minute and any portion of the video requires
rendering, the entire production will be rendered for efficiency reasons.

SVRT is Cyberlink's implementation of smart rendering. I beleive the original purpose was for camcorder videos. Anytime you re-render a file you will lose some detail so it is best to avoid it. I used it in the past and loved it. Many video editing software has advertse smart rendering. PD12 is one of them.

Thanks all,
I made this question because mi ActionCam (JVC Adixxion GC-XA1) records with the format MP4 AVC, apparently the same I use to produce my projects, but PDR wont use SVRT

The clips taken wit my ActionCam are MP4 with this specs:
Codec AVC (avc1)
Bitrate: about 7Mbps
Frame size: 1280x720
Framerate: 30.00

At the moment I don't have the files to analyze (I'm at the office) ... this evening (now it's 8.50am) I will do some tests and I will post the details of input clip and output produced file.

I never saw SVRT active either.
