It seems unfinished

Finally managed to get back on the forum after a c-drive crash lost all my access data.

PD13 is unfinished, in my eyes.
A dark, clunky interface which sometimes slows to a crawl, spelling errors, windows which don't "remember" their settings and functions which have become more difficult than easier. The time-line still swallows the bottom tracks and requires constant manual adjustment. Hovering a mouse in the media area will pop up a balloon with random file information, the text function is almost completely useless now and trying different effects immediately crashes the program due to a display crash when I exit the "room".

The crash is being looked into and I hope this will be resolved soon.

Yep, my fault for buying immediately, I know.

Q: You know what you call a PD early adopter?

A: A beta tester. Regards,

I had PD7 that came with my HP laptop, and upgraded to v13 the other day because it had better MP4 support. Both versions exhibit similar problems, though, which leads me to believe that the QA team doesn't test all the functionality thoroughly. Here are the problems I'm having:

When playing a video to look for places to split the scene, suddenly the timeline will jump ahead several minutes and the preview window will freeze.

There is NO support for a multi-monitor setup. Ideally, PD13 should remember where the window was last, and go to that place if it's available.

The template editor needs to be more flexible for higher-end needs, including the ability to modify the menu structure, especially when trying to create a multi-title DVD.

I'm not trying to do anything elaborate, but I keep running into barriers when doing even the simplest things. The PDF user manual is not particularly useful.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.

I'm on version 12 still and it currently meets my needs. And, my version has partial multi-monitor support (although, as you point out, it doesn't always seem to remember the window locations the next time you start PD - Perhaps a "Save Workspace As..." function would be useful here?): The preview window can be detached and moved to your second monitor and made full screen if you wish, freeing up some space for the various rooms and timeline, etc.

I've had only a few crashes over the years, believe it or not (unlike when I had a certain other NLE that rhymes with "Finnacle" and used to crash very frequently...)

I thought that installing a patch might improve things, so I downloaded the v13 patch, but I don't have "the required version of the program".
No help at all, not even what the required version is.
Do I really need to "contact the application provider"?

AndySA,

See the other post on this topic...the patch is not needed, since you already have that version. That's why you're getting the error message. Regards,
Dan

Thanks. Reading helps, I guess.
And a specific and descriptive error message would be nice too. I guess.
