I have video files on a Trancend class 10 SD card that are corrupt. Windows 7 asked if I wanted to fix system errors and I clicked yes but it didn't work. Is there any good free software or low cost software that can restore corrupt video files?

HT

There may be recovery software.

But, you may have a lost cause. Can the camera read the card? Does the camera show the images?

If the camera can view the images, you may be able to use the camera's USB transfer to copy the files from the camera to the computer.

If you are successful, format (initialize) the card in the camera and/or get a new card.

No the images can not be viewed with the camcorder and a repair attempt by the camcorder was unsuccessful.

Do a Net search for "fix corrupt camera card images." One of the utilities listed there may help. Be cautious.

In most cases just locate the folders that contain the video and transfer all the m2ts or mts files to your pc hard drive via a correct card reader (sdxc, etc.). This should work even if the camcorder can't read them because the index files are corrupted. Try this first before using recovery software.

if you are in windows, go to CMD, and type
chkdsk [disk unit] /f
example

chkdsk g: /f

It works for me

Thanks everyone but my computer tech skills are limited. I don't know how to go to CMD. However, since I allowed windows 7 to try to fix the corruption I no longer have any video in the avchd folder and no longer have a stream subfolder. Only 160KB of information left in the Private folder. What is strange is all my stills are fine in the DCIM folder. If video is irretrievable I can make a slide show out of the stills.
