Preview Issues With .MOV Clips

It's an interesting problem, Dan!

Initially, my logic told me it must be related to the high bitrate of the .MOV clip. On my poorly endowed PC, the first clip you posted jerked its way through playback. The same thing happened just now when I tested P1000691.MOV. The other two clips were fine - smooth playback

BUT

I took that P1000691.MOV and produced it to MOV 1920x1080 @ 48MBps (59.94fps) and it played back perfectly in PD's preview window. So - it's not just about the bitrate.

Better get the techies in, Dan. I can't figure that one.

Neil couldn't replicate the playback issue, but Dafydd could.

Cheers - Tony

Hi Dan,
Thanks for everything so far.

Here's somthing for you to try out. (I have only tested the first MOV).
RE: P1000681.MOV
1. Make a copy of the MOV (59.94fps) = P1000681 - Copy.MOV
2. Change the extension of the copy to: P1000681 - Copy.mp4
3. Open PDR11
4. Click'n'drag the file P1000681 - Copy.mp4 into PDR11 Library room.
5. Place P1000681 - Copy.mp4 into Track 1
6. Play /Preview the clip.
7. On my system there is no problem showing now - smooth play through occurrs.

Go figure....

I'm wondering if the issue is player based. My mp4's can be played in Media Player, the MOV's not. This thread has been passed onto CyberLink.

Dafydd

It doesn't appear to be player based.

Dafydd,

Many thanks for your efforts. That worked for me too. I'd like to see this fixed, but the workaround moves (pardon the pun) this issue from "Critical Show Stopper" to "Important But NOT Show Stopper".

FYI, for renaming lots of files, I've found that "Renamer" by den4b dot com (http://www.den4b.com/?x=products) is quite useful. It's free/donation ware, but he sells a commercial license too. Nice little tool.

Thanks and regards,

Dan.

p.s. I'll be happy to work with CyberLink directly or with you to get this resolved. Whichever is best.

For reference, here is the .MOV file that worked great: MOV - 30p ALL-Intra. While only 30p, it is 70Mbps, so the quality is fairly nice. Also included is the media info file. Like all of the other files it was the same scene with the camera locked down on a tripod. I.e. it can be used for A->B comparisons.

Regards,

Dan.
