Cris, You asked " Why can't Cyberlink fix it, what is their problem? "

You have to ask them.

As with current copy protection, the VHS copy protection designed by Macrovision has several flavors so iot is not as simple as it looks. .

An update: The application GoldenVideo started to prompt me to buy their software, and I got annoyed. So, I returned the PowerDirector10 to Tiger Direct store. They refunded me. Thats the advantage of buying from brick and mortar, easy returns.

Their technician showed me another bundle - Startechcom that came with video capture cable and GrabBee video capture software. cost $44.

I hooked up my old samsung vhs video recorder to the PC and this one works very well without any issue. I recorded 4 vhs tapes last night.

We know that there are plenty of methods and software to capture VHS tapes.

The quality of capture is pretty well defined by how much you pay for the capture device and software.
There is a very good device made by Grass Valley, cost is about $180. That is far better than any USB device you can buy.

The absolute best capture device is used by Broadcasters, it is called 'Time Base Corrector'. The ones I have seen priced are in the Several hundred to Thousands of dollar range.

Search on Google for 'Time Base Corrector' without quotes.
