Nvidia 8600GT 1024MB. As I have said elsewhere, it seems Cyberlink were always more aligned to nvidia. CUDA was introduced well before ATI stream if I recall correctly. This is just my opinion. Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.

Mmmm thanks.... I could have save some $'s with the 8600! Anyway....

Quote: CPU rendering default is Main@L5.1 2 reframes
GPU rendering default is Main@L4.2 2 reframes
CPU and GPU rendering at High is L4.2 2 reframes which is closest to original raw profile.

Can you please explain what settings/optiuons you used? I presume that when in the "Produce" tab:
CPU Rendering is : "Fast video rendering technology" is unchecked
GPU Rendering is : "Fast video rendering technology" is checked and "Hardware video encoded" is selected
CPU and GPU Rendering is : ???? how to do select this combo ???

Thanks

oops .. not very clear in my original post

could have read better perhaps as....

Both CPU rendering and GPU rendering at High is L4.2 2 reframes, which is closest to original raw profile.

You obviously cannot used combined. Sorry for the confusion Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.

Happy and new year! and thanks for the update on the CPU/GPU(makes more sence to me!).

Some more testing..........Summary:
  • Original raw clip (65 secs long): 194MB / 23.4 Mbps / 50fps / High@L4.2 / CABAC with 4 Ref Frames + Plays Fine

  • SVRT (8 secs to create): 195MB / 23.6 Mbps / 50fps / High@L4.2 / CABAC with 4 Ref Frames + Plays Fine

  • SVRT OFF / CPU Rendering (231 secs to create): 212MB / 25.6 Mbps / 50fps / High@L5.1 / CABAC with 2 Ref Frames + Does not like the Haali Renderer - no video pin out

  • SVRT On / CPU Rendering from 0 Sec (233 secs to create): 214MB / 25.6 Mbps / 50fps / High@L4.1 / CABAC with 2 Ref Frames + Playes Fine

  • SVRT On / CPU Rendering from 2 Sec (224 secs to create): 214MB / 25.6 Mbps / 50fps / High@L4.2 / CABAC with 4 Ref Frames + Plays Fine :

  • GPU rendering (97 secs to create): 184MB / 22.1 Mbps / 25fps / Baseline@L4.1 / CABAC with 2 Ref Frames + Terrible Juddery Ouput and Does not like the Haali Renderer - no video pin out

  • So for me the conclusion would appear that while we wait for SVRT to be fixed:
    1) Always select SVRT even through it will start rendering from the first change (split, transition, title etc) - at least you get a similar profile and it plays nicly with the Haali splitter
    2) If you place you first change (eg title) 2 seconds or latter from the start of the first clip then SVRT works for the first 2 seconds so you get the same profile info as the original

    Thanks
    Nathan

Until the 2330 patch my GPU would not render at 1080 60 fps progressive. It may be the same is applicable to the ATI cards and this has not yet been sorted by Cyberlink. Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.

When using SVRT and the rendering is from frame 0, PD9 is writting the header as Level 4.1 but this is not correct for 1920x1080@50 or 60p, the correct Level is 4.2 - The stream is obviously OK and hence will work with many apps / splitters but I'm not surpirsed if some reject it as 4.1 is defined as supporting up to 1080@30p or 720/60p. Likewise PD9 will write the header as 5.1 if you don't select the SVRT option and it can also causes issues with splitters like Haali.

All in all - while it "works", Cyberlink still have some work to do to correctly support rendering out compliant H.264 1080/60 or 60p material. There are issues with CPU rendering, SVRT, and GPU rendering but I'm sure as it becomes more common the devs will iron it out as the basics are there, just the execution needs some fine tuning...well I hope anyway! No comment about Cyberlink but just stop a second and realise what we expect from our cameras/software these days.

The amount of information that has to be read and understood at 1920X1080 at 60 frames/second is enormous. Plus that is if we are just cutting and pasting, that does not include when we alter everyone of those 60 frames/second with Stabilisation/ Slow motion/ White balance/ Colour/ Sharpness etc etc etc

Sorry I come from the day when my computer spent all night rendering 640X480. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

There is a growing list of the ones that do play it over at AVS....I'm betting there will be a new branding like "AVCHD+" and they will add the 50/60p to the spec and at which point a whole heap will add the support. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Continuting on from a post at AVS on this:

pjc3 - I'm not so happy with PD9's support at present though I think it is to do how the file headers are written out, eg:
    CPU Rendering
    - Level is changed to 5.1 High from 4.2
    - Haali splitter will not see the Video Track (need to use MPC)
    - tsMuxeR complains that there is an unknown track (and it's the Audio) as I was going to try changing the level using this
    - PS/3 complains the data type is not supported

    SVRT Rendering
    - Does not work if there is any edit in the 1 sec of a clip, and once it defaults to CPU rendering it stays there
    - tsMuxeR gives an error "Bitstream exception Unknown exception" if you try to open them up.

Let me know if you are getting better results!

I've had some luck in that while eac3to will complain obout the Video track from a CPU Rendered output it will demux the tracks so that tsmuxer can remux it correctly and the results are much better (confirming the PD9 is having issues with the muxing not the transcoding). I've still got to work out a couple of things.....will update later.... PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

GPU Rendering on using my ATI 5770 is the worst of all - it drops it to L4.1 at 25fps and the Haali splitter still does not like the video stream. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

OK, This thread has run it's course and items have crept in that are off the subject heading. Time to call a halt and ask those who'd like to move to a new topic thread to do so.

    Thanks
