PD12 has a feature that will automatically delete pds files after a set time. Yesterday I was trying to modify a video that was edited a few month ago and the pds files were missing.

This sort of thing, accidental delete etc. has happened to me over the years and there is a free program, RECUVA that can restore the lost files. It works best if used right away after the loss, before the lost files are overwritten.

Might come in handy some day

Video editing in 4K works well with PD12, below is a sample edited on my 4 year old computer. The original is 90 min long, all in glorious 4K.
YouTube compresses the daylights out of uploaded vide but it still looks pretty decent.

I am unaware of any setting or feature that auto-deletes PDS files.
There is, in PREFERENCES, a setting that will allow the timed deletion of shadow files.
Your video is excellent.

If someone is relying on the AutoSave only, then PowerDirector will delete any PDS that is over 30 days old (Default setting).

That is not the recommended way to use Powerdirector.

The recommended way so to Save As your project to a folder of your choice and increment a number at the end.

Thank you both, Barry and Carl

I had accidentally activated that at some point, because I always had the auto erase set to off. I do SAVE AS but the auto save, set at 3 min. can go back to some specific edit point.

Well live and learn.

Brought this up because the RECUVA works so well.
