Hi,

I bought PowerDirector yesterday night. I had already used it so know how it works. I have also knowledges in gpu decoding.

My problem here seems to be a famous one. When i try to produce in mp4 using intel quick sync i get :

"Production unsuccessful. Please ensure your graphics card driver is up-to-date, and update to the latest version of Windows Media Player or QuickTime software. You can also try to output the production in a different video format."

My hardware is Asus UX32VD i7 3517u, Intel HD 4000 (supports quicksync perfectly), GT 620M, win8

I have tried to reinstall latest intel drivers but it doesn't change anything. It can produce in m2ts but i'm using a software that doesn't support m2ts and whatever i didn't pay 60 euros for a software that say it can encode in mp4 using quicksync for nothing. I think you understand what i mean.

When i use handbrake or sony vegas, it uses quicksync without any problem.

I have also forced the powerdirector to use the intel GPU (otherwise i don't have the quicksync option)

I've seen this error reported here :http://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=14956&prodId=4&prodVerId=1052

so i guess you know exactly how to solve it now ?

No, I don't but I do know the steps to maybe solve it. The one thing I should ask for but am not at these time, the diagnostic of your computer.

Intel drivers:
update your graphics driver
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx

Only use WHQL drivers from the manufacturer. No beta.

Check for the latest patch for Powerdirector.
You can see your version by clicking on the Word "Powerdirector" on the Upper Right.

http://www.cyberlink.com/support/powerdirector-ultra/patches_en_US.html

Update your QuickTime: Important, provides MP4 support.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Update the Drivers and QuickTime first, if that does not solve your problem, come back with the Diagnostic.

Many software companies are putting extra software and browsers in the offer to download.

If you do not want any of the "Junk" uncheck or decline the offers.

For QuickTime you do not have to accept any of the offers.
Actually that is true for all free software.

Ok

But can you explain me why upgrading quicktime would make the mp4 quicksync working in pdirector12 ?

I do not know for sure it will.

In Powerdirector, QuickTime is used in the production of Apple videos. MP4 and MOV are Apple formats.
It will not hurt to update QuickTime. it may help.

QuickTime is a necessary component in Powerdirector.

If you were to remove QuickTime, you will notice that MOV is no longer available in Produce, In Powerdirector the MOV format is the encoder in QuickTime.

What is QuickTime?

In my case everything worked fine until a crash during certain mp4 production. After that incident the message "Production unsuccessful... blah, blah, blah..." started to appear. It is completely misleading message since I could produce mp4's before the crash and all the drivers and software were up to date and after they didn't...
The most interesting is that the crash happened during 1980x1080/25p (16Mbps) production and the problem occurs only with 1980x1080 Productions. With other mp4 productions everything works fine.
The problem seems to be connected to the Windows account I work with. It doesn't exist on other accounts.

Finally got it and it worked!
On Windows, logged to your account go to menu Start > Run and type regedit. Be careful now, since you operate on the Windows registry.
Find the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\CES_FunctionLogger\Data.
All the listed entries should be of value 0x00000000 (0). If any of them is not change it to 0. This will be the production profile which produces the message "Production unsuccessful... blah, blah, blah..."

I will test this, since I can use Quick Sync for all formats but sometimes if a 4K produce fails, it will throw me the "Production unsuccessful message". The thing is that Quick Sync actually renders 4K videos way faster than using just the CPU. For 1080p or 2K, Quick sync doesn't make a noticeable difference in my system. Hoping this resolves my issue Main Machine: Jetway NF9G-QM77, Intel i7-3610QM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, 128gb SSD, Windows 10 Pro

For WMV the encoder is in Windows Media Player. Which is why it is a required component for PowerDirector.

WMV is a Microsoft CODEC.

It should work with wmv 9. See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992 and try to use the fix tool from this page.

Another solution is to reinstall codecs: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=507. As MS states it canfix problems of previous installations.
