It happens to me when the transition is an overlap, but not when it's a cross.

You can right click in the gap and select "Remove and Move Clips on the Same Track." Of course, you can also adjust your durations before adding transitions.

Or you can switch the transition to a cross before extending the duration of the clip. To change to cross, right click on the transition and select Modify Transition. You'll see the options. Select Cross. Now, adjust the clip's duration. You can then remove the transition without getting the gap.

Overlap does change timeline duration, as opposed to the crossfade mode.

Yet in reconstructing precisely what you demonstrated - in PD 11 - there is no gap left when an effect is removed, in OL or CF mode.

So this appears to either be an anomaly with PD12, or perhaps I have misled myself. Does this behavior occur repeatedly?

Hi Andres -

I'd never noticed that, being a "cross" guy...

Like borgus1 said, it seems to be a PD12 anomaly. In PD11, removing the transition after adjusting the image duration leaves no gap. As far as I can see, that's exactly what should happen.

Cheers - Tony
