Modifying Default Menu Music

This may be old news to many experienced users. It may not be news at all... I probably read it somewhere & forgot where, but I just thought I'd post how you can change the default menu music when you create a menu from scratch.

By default (& who would know why) there's a ghastly scratchy little track called "Sports". It's easy enough to change for a particular menu by clicking the +/- ♪♪ buttons.

Here's how to get rid of it completely, so it never rocks up in your menus again. There are two ways...

Easiest method:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector12\Template\New\Audio where you'll find "Sports.wma"
2. Select a preferred piece of default music & convert it to wma format
3. Rename your selected piece to "Sports.wma"
4. Delete the original file & replace it with your selected music.

Less Easy method:
1. In C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector12\Template\New\Audio, there's an .xml file - "std_music.xml"
2. After selecting your preferred default music (wma), temporarily lift the xml file out of its folder (say to desktop)
3. Open the file with XML Notepad & change "Sports" to the title of your music. In the screenshot below I called it "MenuMusic"

4. Put the xml file & your wma file in the AUDIO folder.

Yes - I've tested & both methods work. No - PowerDirector suffers no ill-effects as a result.

Cheers - Tony

Yes, a tad on the old side, outlined here in PD7. Pretty much a shame the same poor menu music control provided to the user some 6 years latter.

Hats off to you, Jeff -

I knew it wouldn't have been "new" news! You have either a mind like a steel trap or an extensive list of bookmarks.

Gotta say, pretty much most of what I understand about menus in PD probably comes down to your posts! Thank you.

Agreed - it's a long time without a menu re-vamp.

Cheers - Tony
