I am working in Power Director 12 ultra (64 bit) and I am trying to set the right speed for fast moving clouds. I have the clouds on the timeline and click on the power tools and set the video speed. I have taped the the clouds for 8 minutes but when I go to set the speed for fast moving it starts OK but about 2 seconds it starts to jerk it is not smooth and it seems no matter what speed I set it at it won't be smooth.

Should I tape the clouds for a longer time or is there a certain time that this is set for to make the clouds smoother? It seems that when I increase the speed the video on the timeline gets smaller till you can hardly see the video. Thanks for your help.

Playback will be choppy but once you produce your timeline, your final output playback should be okay. Say you speed things up 10x, that means you are only playing ever 10th frame of your original file so you need to process through all the frames in your 8 min file very rapidly during playback, that creates the stuttered playback. Once you produce the file, playback will be smooth as every 10th frame is now consecutive to create the speedup you wanted.

If you want, you can move the orange timeline markers around the area and use the PD "Render Preview" feature to pre render your accelerated area, playback will then be smooth in the timeline. This takes time to pre render, little green bars appear above timeline indicating progress and when completed remain to highlight the fact that this area was pre rendered.
