When I import a file, I see the option to detect "Rich video Information".
Can someone give a brief explanation of what this is?
What does this do for editing my video. Is it necessary to perform this? Etc. Ageing Gracefully

Some DV cameras embed information in the video file, Date and time, "Rich Video".

Most of the HD flash card cameras don't.

It is not necessary at all.

I'm not sure CL Rich Video has anything to do with any DV camera capability, "Rich Video" is after all CL generated and CL technology, nothing to do with any camera. Yes you can add date, time, location through CL Smart Captions button if desired. On import, CLRV information can be generated for HD flash footage as well. Your brief explanation is in the following 2 CL posts.
