How much memory do you have on that ATI?
I had to replace an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT that had 256MB with an Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB to solve problems with both PD7 and another editing program.
So the first thing I wondered about is your ATI card.
Well its a 512mb card, but i seemed to have solved the problem, it seems to be the files that are written on the DVD by the Camcorder are causing havoc. What ive ended up doing is running the DVD's through a converter, changing them to an MP4 and then using the MP4 file with PD7 and it runs perfect, a slight pain but not too much.
Funnily enough im actualy reviewing this software for Amazon Vine and first impressions weren't great but now im pretty impressed with some of the results ive been getting.
