Surround 5.1 Creation Question

Hi All - I am new to AD and am trying to clarify if the exported .wav file from 'Mix' and 'Edit' are encoded with Dolby and therefore recognised by a player when input via either a Coax or optical input.

I love the Panner and the conversion from Stereo to 5.1/7.1. When I looked at Adobe Audition, I thought that it had a neat directional surround tool, but AD's is far better. (Good work)
It's disappointing that there are so few file formats that it will export to, but hopefully that will change. (Flac, AC3)
I'm on the verge of buying AD, but I need some reassurance that it produces true surround and not a pseudo version of it.

Also when in 'Mix', how does the 'Produce' process determine which speaker aligns with which track. There seems to be no identifier against the track (unlike in Edit). Do the tracks have to be in a set order?

Any help appreciated.

Hello Rick,

Welcome to the ADR forum

You're absolutely right. The production formats for 5.1 audio are limited (it's .WMA or nothing)! And you're absolutely right to ask the question. I'm pleased you added your suggestion to the suggestion box

I'm attaching a 5.1 audio test sample produced in AudioDirector. The original file was downloaded from http://www.lynnemusic.com/surround.html

If you need further confirmation or assistance, don't be afraid to ask.
