I have had this problem in the last two videos I have produced. I've placed all the images and video clips together with dissolves and saved the project. When I re-opened the project the sound is now out of sync with the video. I have way too many clips to go thru and re do the project anybody have an ideas for an easier fix?

This has happened to me when I have used PIPs in the videos I have been producing. When I play it through in edit mode (in my case) the video and PIPs play in slow motion. They do not, for the most part, seem to process that way (I did end up with one small slowing of a main clip, that took my main video out of sync). That doesn't mean that this isn't an issue, it is, especially if you have to go in to re-edit. It also seems to do it after you close the file and re-open. I didn't notice it happening after I saved and continued to work on the project. This is a new problem I have discovered with PD7 (I'm using build 1915). It doesn't seem to be how simple the stacking is. I didn't notice an issue however, if it was just straight video and audio synced. This isn't really something that I can show you either, since for the most part the videos produce fine for me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Bob and Valerie,

I have sent Valerie a patch fix file which should resolve this issue. The soon to be release update will include this patch.

Bob you'll have to PM me your email address and I'll send the file to you as well. under 2mb.

ALL: If you want the patch you'll have to send a PM with name and email address and specifically mention AV issue or I wont have a clue what you're after and I wont send it to you.

Dafydd, since I installed this fix and its does nothing to the video I'm working on I assume its to fix the same issue in future videos?

since the track movement is the same thru out the project would it be possible to unlink the movie sound track and paste a clip into the sound track to move the whole track over a bit?

The other work around I am trying is to produce the whole video and use that file as a new project, then split the video and audio tracks to enable me to move the audio track till it is more in sync?

Anybody have a better idea ???

Well neither of those ideas worked. I cant even go in and change the clips that have people speaking because even if i delete the clip and replace it, the clip still comes up off register even though its in register in the clip.

thought you all would get a kick out of cyberlinks support answer to my problem :

Well I'm at my wits end. I've got 40 plus hours editing a video and when I opened it this morning it decided to place the video off register. I've had this happen to a few clips in a movie before but this time the whole movie from 7 minutes in is off register. I installed the patch from the forum but that didn't change anything. Do you have any suggestions as to how I might salvage this project? In future versions a nudge button might be a handy feature to add. I tried splitting the audio and video clips and tried to re-register them but without a way to move the tracks a little at a time that solution is un workable

Dear Bob, Thank you for contacting CyberLink Online Support. We understand your concern related with closing the registration form for PowerDirector Software. For the best service, we suggest that you register your product with CyberLink. If you already registered your product, but you are still getting the popup registration form, please do the following: In Windows Explorer, navigate to "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector \OLRSubmission". Rename the "OLRSubmission" folder to "Submission". Note: If you want to register your product again, just rename the folder to its original name "OLRSubmission". Please use this reference, for further enquiry and immediate response: http://www.cyberlink.com/english/cs/support/form/index.jsp Please feel free to contact us back for any further clarification or for any assistance related to CyberLink Products. Thank You and Best Regards

Yeah that was a big help.

Bob,

If that patch is to correct the problem in future video projects but will do nothing on the current one you have 40 hours invested in, you might try this:

Keep the current project as reference and start out fresh, saving your pds file under an alternate filename. I had to do that once for another reason (a captured video file had corrupted and I had to recapture an hour long tape) and even without a reference I was able to accomplish a re-edit in about 1/3 the time it took me to do it the first time.

Just a suggestion but if the patch works it should save the project for you.

Actually your pip overlay ideas on another post helped me speed up the process of re-doing the video. If I replace the video in the time line it is still off register but by placing the same clip in the pip track and enlarging it to full screen I've been able to replace most of the clips that have close ups of people talking. The bulk of the clips are of atvs on trails so if the sound doesnt match up exactly it doesnt matter. I also gained a valuable lesson. In the future (if I continue to use this program) I will know to do save as files with different names along the way so in case I run into this problem again I will only have to go back to the last saved spot.

Bob don't know if this will help or not. I had issues with the PIPs in a project too. Once I had put together the project, the video and the PIP overlay were working in slomo. I installed the patch, I thought it worked, it didn't.

I uninstalled Power Director reinstalled an older version 1829 and it fixed my project (including older ones that had the same issue).

Not sure that that will help, but it's worth a try. I did, however, make a note of all my clips and times etc of my video so that I could recreate if I needed to. BUT I didn't need to.

Just to keep people up to date. I installed the fix that Dafydd had sent me to no avail. After installing the fix I was unable to burn any dvd from the program until I uninstalled the fix and returned the program to the pre fix version. I dont know if the fix was causing the problem or what but it took uninstalling the program and re installing it to get it to work again. I'm honestly thinking of going back to version 6 until they get the bugs worked out of 7.
