I have approx 5GB to fit onto a 4.7GB DVD.
Has anyone a good experience using Smart Fit or should I split video at a convenient point and burn 2xDVD

How long is the video you want to burn to DVD?

Single layer DVD (4.7 GB ) = about 1 Hour at 8 Mbps 720x480 video ( MPEG-2 HQ ).
Double Layer DVD (8.5 GB ) = about 2 hours at 8 Mbps 720x480 video ( MPEG-2 HQ ).

The GB of the file is not important because to burn a DVD it will be rendered to MPEG-2 at 8 Mbps.

Hei Carl,

Thanks for your reply. To check what the 'real GB' would likely be, I produced the video to MPEG-2 HQ and this totalled 5.3GB. The total length is 90 mins. The video is about 50/50 video and 'moving' stills.

Last night I made a 'test run' ... added the intro, selected Smart Fix & burnt to a 4.7DVD also using Intelligent SVRT. Hey, it was a successful result. The picture quality (for a 2D DVD) was as good as a normal burn, though our TV is only 32" which would maybe not show picture degradation.

I was pleasantly surprised with the result.

I would say you got lucky, Smart fit is known to crunch the video down to a pixelated mess.

I am amazed you got 90 minutes on a 4.7 GB DVD.
If you get yourself some double layer DVDs you can put up to about 2 hours of best quality video.
