Image stabilization is excellent for most use.
However I do a lot of video of moving objects, is there any way to make powerdirector focus on the object (plane, helicopter) instead of trying to lock the entire image based on the background?

Previously I have used OLD versions of media composer and after effects but PD is so good for everything in general I'd love to be able to use it solely.

Tracking is the term I believe normally used.

A couple of pretty typical examples of what I'm trying to track. These were done on PD

Cheers

Keyframing might do it, but that could drive you to distraction. Look into Color Director...

"Intelligent Motion Tracking

ColorDirector's intelligent motion tracking algoritm tracks motion by matching image data from a selected area in a frame to image data in each succeeding frame.

It allows you to quickly select or isolate objects, accurately track their movements and of course change or enhance their color."
