I packed my 12 file video file. Then move the packed folder to a different drive expecting faster rendering result.

Apparenty that is not a format that can be bought into powerdirector to work on.

How can you use the packed folder with the resources in it and bring them into power director.

Hi Alan -

Your packed project folder will include a .pds file & all the media in your timeline.

You can:
1. Right click on the .pds file and open it with PD12
or 2. Open PD & go to File > Insert project and navigate to the .pds file in the packed project folder.

You can't import a .pds file because it's not media.

Cheers - Tony

Hi,

That is what I expected but when I did a move of the packed materials to my new sata drive - it put them in a format that did not identify what each file was.

I went back to the original file and it did show the .pds file.

Seems the copy to a diferent drive does not bring all identifications with it.

Thanks,

More to remember

Hi,
The packed files 'pds' contains the script for that project (example where actual files are, what effects etc) are maybe if you moved the original videos used the PDS script can't find.

so,

After moving the project via packed materials to another drive - I can bring that packed materials via the .pds but after I get it into the program cannot use create module to line them up with menu and create blu-ray dvd..

The individual video modules are on my cloud drive and I am trying too run averything from the internal SATA drive.

I believe I have solved the problem and would like to share it:

I needed to move an entire fairiy comlex project to an internal drive from my cloud drive. The size in totality of the entire project with 12 rendered and saved each as a project Video file in the .MOV format is over 29GB.

I packed the content saved in each of the 12 project files and saved them on my destination drive. So now I have 12 video project files in the packed format.

Then I was able to bring them into the Create module of Powerdirector individually or all of them..

Otherwise I could find no alternative of transferring an entire project made up of multiple video projects to a different drive and yet address each video project seperately.

Any flaws in this reasoning.

Alan
