HELP NEEDED - Program crashes on Startup
[Post New]
Hey guys I have recently started to have a problem with Power Director 12.

I bought Power Director 12 about 2 weeks ago and edited a number of projects successfully and never had any problems with the program, but today I loaded up the program and it gets to the importing media screen then suddenly crashes. I have looked online for a solution but all of the suggestions have not worked for me. I have installed all the most recent updates and that hasn't worked either, I would appreciate any help as I am getting behind in my video editing now.

Thanks alot

GSGaming12
It appears some of your files got corrupted.
Uninstall PD12. Run a registry cleaner. CCleaner is a good one.
Reboot
Re-install PD12 PC specs :
OS Windows 10.0 Pro
MB - AS rock Z77 extreme 11
Intel 3770K @ 4.0 Ghz OC
Gskill 32 GB RAM 1800 Mhz
6 TB HDD, SSD bootable
nVidia ASUS GTX 660 Ti
BenQ 22" LCD monitor 1920x1080

Hi Babindia thanks for quick reply

I noticed when installing it said I had the option to reinstall the program just the once after purchasing it.

Will this mean I cant ever reinstall it again?

Hi Babindia im still having trouble.

Even after uninstalling the program, running the ccleaner, rebooting my laptop and reinstalling the program I am still having problems.

I am really confused as what the problem could be as the program was running perfect before today.

Is there any other suggestions on what I could do to fix this problem?

Thanks

Have you manually cleared the cache (temp files) - under EDIT|PREFERENCES|GENERAL? Try that.

Hi Borgus1

I cant get to the preference option as the program only loads up for a split second then crashes. The program opens up, pops up saying its importing media files and shows the sample clips being loaded then before its done it suddenly pops up saying PDR12.exe has stopped working.

Sometimes it will just freeze instead and just say importing media Files\Cyberlink\PowerDirector12\SampleClips\forest.jpg and then it will stop responding.

I really cant figure out what I have done to make this problem occur. I was really happy with the software until this happened

Odd. Try reinstalling PD, using the latest patch as linked in the "sticky" post at the head of this forum.

Please attach a diagnostic file, per http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29701.page

Part B

Folks can then look for problems in your system.

OK everyone, it's crazy to go on with all this guessing until/unless we have GSGaming112 create and submit a dxdiag.
GSGaming112,
go to this link, this should have been done out-of-the-gate.

at the very least, we need PART A and PART B.
Do not be discouraged, the dxdiag you provide for us may reveal a clue as to what is happening. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.

Try downloading and installing QuickTime. If QuickTime asks to uninstall previous install, say Yes.

Also check for latest video card driver from the card manufacturer.

It you have a Intel CPU, you may need to disable Quick Sync.

I saw something else, I do not remember what it was.
If Windows 8.1, I have not a clue. I see bad things about systems with Windows 8.1 all the time.
