I am speccing out a configuration for a video rendering computer. Looking at 16/32 processors with 16/32 ram.

I started using PowerDirector 12 about a month ago. I have been rendering and converting 8mm, s8mm, vhs, pictures, and slides into shows for a couple of years. have used Video Studio but like Powerdirector 12 much better at this point.

I am a retied CIO.

I heard or read some where where the i7 processor is not recommended for powerdirector 12. I may be wrong on this but the configuration I am looking at includes the Intel i7 processor.

Anyone have input on this?

Thanks,

Alan

The Intel i7 processor is highly recommended.

It is currently one of the fastest of processors on the market at this time.

If you want some comparisons:

The Specs and requirements for Powerdirector 12

Go for the recommended specs.

I just built an i7 4770k computer. Has been a nightmare with Win 8 and update to 8.1. There is a known issue with the Intel USB 3 port which prevented the update to 8.1 to install. I had to disable Intel USB 3 in BIOS to get 8.1 installed.

As for PD12, it runs fine. It is faster than my old computer, but rendering video isn't as fast as I expected with QuickSync. Perhaps, my expectations were too high. Intel i7 4770k, 16GB, GTX1060 3GB, Two 240GB SSD, 4TB HD, Sony HDR-TD20V 3D camcorder, Sony SLT-A65VK for still images, Windows 10 Pro, 64bit
